Fungal sinus infections sound funny. They are deadly serious. Really. Sinus fungus can grow and take over the entire sinus cavities if left unchecked. This is no laughing matter.

Fungus as it turns out is the leading cause of chronic sinusitis in the United States. It appears that antibiotic medicines may play a big part in this.

Antibiotics used for sinus infections can kill off the good bacteria that lives in our sinuses. Normally, this good bacteria competes for food with the fungus and thus overtakes the fungus by starving it.

Once these good bacteria are gone, fungus can take over for good.
